Notes |
- Harry worked for a number of years at the Monessen Foundry and Machine Company as a moulder. His father Joseph also worked there in the same capacity. His brother-in-law, Raymond Gadd worked there too. The Monessen Foundry and Machine Company was founded 1898 and sold to Rockwell International in 1945. The foundry was closed and its operations moved elsewhere in the early 1950's. Harry then worked for Pittsbugh Steel, first as a railroad brakeman on their Monessen, PA mill railroad, and later in the Pittsburgh Steel Rolling Mill in Allenport, PA.During his tme at the Monessen Foundry, Harry served for a time as the local union president, as did his father Joseph before him. The union meetngs were conducted at the Monessen Hungarian Club.
