JAKOB RASMUSSON STRAND was born at Strand near Bergheim in the Nordfjord area about 100 miles NE of Bergen. He moved to Bergen and became a ships carpenter.
BIRTHE (CARINE?) HANSDTR's origins are uncertain. 2 Birthe Hansdtrs, one with the additional name Carine, appear in Bergen records. One was the daughter of Johannes Erickson, a sailor, and his wife Anna Elizabeth Franzdtr, baptised 14 Mar 1770 at the Cathedral Church, Bergen.
Jakob and Birthe were probably married in Bergen and were living near Cross Church at the time of the 1801 census.
Birthe may have been buried at the Cathedral Church on 31 May 1812 or at the Cross Church on 1 July 1837.
