Riccarton, Scotland
Riccarton is the Town/area where John Gibson's mother, Ann
Hillhouse, was from. Her parents were William Hillhouse and Ann
Wallace. There is some connection in the area to William Wallace, Robert
the Bruce, and Robert Burns (poet) who lampooned the Rev. Mooney/Moonie who
married our ancestors William Gibson (of Kilmarnock parish) and Ann Hillhouse
(of Riccarton parish) Ann Hillhouse may have been 5-6 years older than her husband
William. The 1830 US Census for Elizabeth, Pennsylvania supports this assumption. The Gibson household lists 1 female in the 60 and older category and I male in the 50 and
older category.
