Erik Hogneson Haugsvaer/Gjertrud Henrksdtr Risnes

Life and Times of Erik Hogneson Haugsvaer/Gjertrud Henrksdtr Risnes family

ERIK HOGNESON HAUGSVAER was born at Haugsvaer.

GJERTRUD HENRIKSDTR RISNES's birthplace is unknown. She married Jon Jetmundson Risnes (see 148) and so came to live at Risnes. They had 6 children born between 1730 and 1741 but 2 (or perhaps 3) died in infancy. Jon died in 1742.

When Erik and Gertrud married Erik came to Risnes to take over the farm. From 1749 to 1751 Erik was apparently Lensman (Police Officer) for the area.

OLE IVARSON TORSVIK was born at Hope, Sondre, the eldest son of Ivar Bertelson (see 256). He married (c 1725) Anna Eriksdtr, a widow at Torsvik, and took over a farm there. They had a daughter, Marita (b 1728). When Anna died Ole married SIGRID MONSDTR HAUGSDAL. They lived at Torsvik for 2 years and then moved back to Hope to take over Ole's father's farm. They may have had a son, Ole.

When Erik married Sigrid he received a share in the farm at Hope where she had lived, but he sold it to his brother Bertel (see 128).

Erik appears to have been industrious in his farming and to have prospered. When Ludvig Daae arrived at Lindaas in 1754 to take over as vicar, Erik lent him a sum of money against the pledge of a silver decanter.

After Sigrid's death the estate was valued, and articles of silver were recorded including a large silver pot with a handle and the letters A.W.E and A.H.D.W engraved on the lid.

GJERTRUD married (1773) Ole Hansson Torsvik (b 1748). They lived at Torsvik, on the same farm where her mother had once lived, and had 7 children of which only 3 survived infancy. Ole died in 1789 and she then married Rasmus Arneson from Hope, the brother of her own brother's wife (for continuation see 65).
